The Master of Heralds oversees the house heralds, all of whom are responsible for the design and commissioning of new arms when they should be granted by the Duke, who also has the customarily royal power of Accolade. Receiving arms makes a family knightly and is the first rung of nobility within the Kingdom of Mercia. Heralds also serve an important function in matters of correspondence and ceremony. The Master Herald of Wessex reports to the King of Heralds in Sol Invictus. The current Master of Heralds is Koma.

A Herald Emcee is the same thing as a normal Herald except, the Herald style of moderation should be less "policement," and more "in good taste," emphasizing proper Wessexian discourse.

A Herald has many purposes in Wessex. They have the rights to commission arms, meaning thru can grant coats of arms to those who have earned them [See Gentry]. When Darkfall is released they will be running there service as a businesses by charging for current tasks and other services. Occasionally they also do the graphic design for the clan, forum signatures and whatever else is needed e.g. Thread recruitment posters. Heralds also will carry the colours of there liege lords in the game, meaning they will be carrying the flag of Wessex around or the associated vassal. They also have a role-playing aspect where they make proclamations or serve as messengers/ambassadors/diplomats to foreign nations.

A Pursuivant is a Herald in training. They have the same powers as a Herald put serve under a senior Herald to teaches them about Heraldry. Each Herald is allowed 2 pursuivants at a time.
