Republic of the Silver Sun

Inspired by the late medieval period of Italian city-states such as Venice, Genoa or Milan the Crowned Republic of the Silver Sun prides itself as a fully functioning Crowned Republic boasting an elected senate, feudalistic vassalage system and an enriched historically driven structure. The Republic is crowned in service to the King of Hyperion operating as a unified series of city-states held together under the centralized government of the Doge (Italian style for Duke) of the dukedom of Aquilea. Aquilea prides itself as a hub for the development of military strategy, philosophy, theocratic doctrine providing support to the other counties of Hyperion. As a classic liberal society the government is bound to a constitution and an elected Signoria.
New members start as immigrants pledging their lives to the Doge in service to the greater Republic rising to Commoner and earning their freedom as a full Citizen of the central cities. Citizens may serve in the Ministries as officials, form their own free military companies or license artisan guilds under the Signoria. Each noble within the Republic hosts their own Noble House to identify greater familial ties creating factions within the central government. The Provincial Imperial Republic of Argos joins the Aquilean League of the Crowned Republic as a subordinate city-state with its own degree of autonomy. The Brazen Shields Free Company also operates as hired Condotierri for the Republic with the Order d'Argento serving the population's spiritual needs.
