This is the 2nd rank for ranged fighters. When a Bowman is deemed experienced enough, he becomes an Archer. Their numbers can include both villeins and freemen. Archers who have had success in battle and have acquired an increase in both accuracy and equipment may be designated as Marksmen by their superiors. Marksmen still usually occupy the same rank and file with their Archer brethren.
They may follow the path of becoming a Ranger if selected by the Forester. Or become a Marksman if chosen by the Duke. The last path is a Archer Seargent.
