Ipswich

The Thanedom of Ipswich with it's town, Ipswich was founded about 600 years ago by a group of settlers from one of the Greater city of Mercia and decided to walk their own path. The city and its lands is a refuge for all the people who wants a new start. Ipswich is nowadays led by Sir Lionel of Ipswich, sworn to follow the Duke of Wessex, Lionel, protects his people and the Duke for the land he recieved. Ipswich is since long occupied by the people of old Mercia, and now Hyperion. The town is run by the Thane, Sir Lionel but he has his council in the castle.

The council members are Morlo & KroneX two very skilled democrates, them both are very skilled in diplomacy. The council families have been in Ipswich since the old days when the town was founded and are very respected.

The people of ipswich are just and kind to it's visitors and can offer some of the finest wares in the Kingdom. The Ipswichian motto is: Ut Defendo Dominus Nostre, which means To defend our Lord, this also applies to the townsfolk of Ipswich and all the refugees seeking shelter in the town.

Military Force

Ipswich doesn't have the biggest nor the smallest of army, we have a local regiment trained for combat with the Kingdom & Able to defend our town! In the future the Thane wishes for a larger army to stand by his side and be able to ride with them into combat.

Oath of Fealty

Sir Lionel Kendis, to His Majesty, Manus I,

Let it be known that, I, Sir kendis, Thane of Ipswich, who is about to swear this oath of fealty. I will be loyal, pledging my body, mind and heart at the defense of Wessex in times of war and ill fortune with courage and prowess. I shall value the well-being of the Duchy and its living sacred embodiment, His Grace, Duke Manus, above all other realms of Agon, and show this value with actions; to do nothing that would harm the Duchy and to do all that is in my power to aid it.

In return for my Fealty and do Homage, His Grace, Duke Manus of Wessex, has graciously granted me a fief of land which will from this day forth be known as "Ipswich", with me I have my loyal men ready to fight for His Grace, Duke of Wessex. In return, I must provide an amount of resources, from my own estate, to His Grace, the Duke Wessex, I swear that me and my men will be there to aid the Duke Manus of Wessex in the most trying of times.

I, Manus, by the grace of God, king of Hyperion, duke palatine of Wessex, count of Elba, make known to those present and to come that I have given in fee to Sir Lionel and his heirs the manor and estate which is called Ipswich, which lies within the domain of Wessex; and whatever the same Sir Lionel shall be able to acquire in the same manor I have granted to him and his heirs in augmentation of that fief I have granted. The same Sir Lionel, moreover, on account of this has become my liege man, as duke of Wessex as well as king of Hyperion.
