If you like to read, I can recomend this series by the auther Bernard Cornwell. Basicly it tells the story of Aelfred the Great king of Wessex, who supposedly was the first to think up the idea of "England". So there is a lot of real world Wessex history in it, and even better a lot of ass kicking Danish vikings :)
