The Fighter: A skill point guide for creating a fighter in MO.

Recommended Stats

You will need to maximise your Strength, Constitution and Dexterity to be competitive in PvP. If you are a min-max type of player then keep in mind that the main benefits from stats only come in full 10’s.

Below are some core skills that are important to every fighter character.

Outside of these core abilities are a large selection of supporting skills that can be taken to support a variety of fighting styles. Below are selections of skill packages that can be combined with the above core skills to create some very deadly fighter characters. Based on your stats you will have 300-400 skill points to spend on these or other skills.

That's a good Guide. Unfortunately, those of us who use Poleaxes or Polearms have to spend an extra 100 points on our weapons skills, so it doesn't leave us a lot of room to maneuver. :) As a result, I've forsaken the Agility skill up to this point in favor of the second weapon proficiency. I may have to rethink my build, though.

do you need to max out both spear and axe to get max polearm?

I believe so, yes.

Agility is a very important skill, they need to fix polearms first before they are worth the 200 skill points.

Don't forget that pure fighters have no use for Mental Training or Reading once they've finished reading the books they need, so that's an extra 200 points.

Also I consider Endurance to be necessary for all fighters, purely for the extra stamina.

Also be advised that although strength does increase damage past it a certain point, it does affect draw speed and really the type of bow you can use.

Wow may not have enough points for Antomy, but luckly I have just have enough for everything else.

Not sure if I understand it right. So if I have 100 limit on a skill and I get 10 points towards it from attributes like Stre n Const i.e. then I only need to spend 90 points from my 1100 skill points pool and I still have the skill maximised?

Exactly this. You got it. Any attribute bonus will add to the whole. So any skill going over 100 is a waste. At least for now.

Feint as a secondary is highly needed for the reduced stam drain on weapon usage.

post needs to be amended, much greater Dex is required

Is there a way to not have a resting package and manage your self with healing? It's quite few points that are useless in actual combat. Do you guys use it?

I will eventually have 1200 skillpoints ( due to attributes reducing need of skills by 100-110)
Assuming I don't need resting I plan to go for
700 - the main bit
100 - block
100 - Endu
100 - Balance
200 - Armors

That would make me pure melee foot but wish I could also add mounted combat, is balance important?

Can't edit above but now looking at this is Block useful only with shield or how is it? I could change that for M combat if so.

Yes, Blocking would not be useful. That will free up 100 points for you.

Can anyone confirm if this is still correct?

It's always been that way for as long as I have played. Unless the latest couple of patches have changed it.

I believe it is still because ill get same amount of rock while mining with over 100 or 100 skill point

Be aware, there is some old information in this thread. For instance, damage bonus on STR doesn't even begin until 100 STR. Same with weak spot for DEX.

ohh really? someone better update this than :p

Damage Bonus can start at 90 str ... it depends on your size too i think. Clarification may be needed as Zalvaris has 110 str with 13% damage bonus. The damage bonus first appeared in the 90's.

Oh that explains why i got 7 damage bonus...cause i got 99 str

If anyone has tested this, I'd be interested to hear the results. Lead programmer Sebastian reported that damage bonus from STR doesn't start until 100, but it's always possible he didn't have his figures straight.

Ok Here goes.
Confirmed factors Size, Str Value, and Race very minor variance related to size,

Size 173cm with 80 Str = 1% Damage Bonus
Size 190cm with 90 Str = 6% Damage Bonus

Hm, need to keep one variable constant at a time, no? We can't tell how much of the 5% increase in damage bonus is due to the STR jump, and how much is due to the Size jump. Maybe go mining on your 173cm character until his STR is 90 and then see how much the Damage Bonus increases, if at all?
